What exactly defines a custom home as “quality”?
Every home builder in New Hampshire will tell you they build a quality house, but what exactly does that mean? That depends entirely on who you ask. It’s subjective, everyone’s definition is going to be different. This is an important subject to us and we feel it’s essential to explain how ARoy Builders defines a “quality” custom home.
First, quality isn’t just about the paint, the fixtures and the windows you choose. Good paint can still have drips and the most energy efficient windows can be drafty if they’re not properly installed.
Quality is also about the “guts” of the home. Quality is in the level of expertise, care and workmanship employed when INSTALLING the paint, the fixtures and the windows you see when the job is done. Finishes are only the tip of the iceberg, the work you don’t see that’s covered up once the job is done is equally important to the integrity of your home.
Building a great house also takes more than just good materials and a general contractor, there’s a whole team at work. True quality also comes from the high level of care, workmanship and character of all the tradesmen and women who go to work every day passionate about their craft. The general contractor you sign a contract with is just one of literally DOZENS of individuals and subcontractors who will all have a hand in building your home. The excavator, the roofer, the sider, the plumber, the drywaller, the “tile guy”, the painter, etc. They all matter.
This is where it’s important to mention building a custom home based on price point alone is a bad idea. Budget certainly matters, but are your savings coming from the general contractor hiring an entire team of subcontractors based on their price alone, regardless of the quality of their work?
We don’t cut corners when it comes to building a great house. Quality building materials, thoughtful construction, clear communication, and passionate trades people coupled with the best installation practices is the real recipe for success. And that’s the recipe we follow. When you have an ARoy Builders home you can sleep comfortably knowing you have a quality home that we were proud to build, and you can be proud to live in.
As an eco-conscious home builder, we plant more trees than we use with every custom home.
When deciding between building a new home or buying one, several factors come into play. Some of the most obvious considerations are the overall cost, level of customization, and timelines. Each of these factors influence the overall experience and outcome. Building and buying both offer distinct advantages, but your decision will depend on your specific…
As part of our commitment to building green and balancing our environmental impact, we plant two trees for every one tree used during construction. In a society with growing populations and steadily increasing demand for new housing, we need to minimize and balance our effect on the environment as we continue building houses to meet…
