As part of our commitment to building green and balancing our environmental impact, we plant two trees for every one tree used during construction.
In a society with growing populations and steadily increasing demand for new housing, we need to minimize and balance our effect on the environment as we continue building houses to meet that demand. That’s why it’s important that we’re building homes with an eco-conscious mindset while also utilizing green sustainable building practices during construction.
Planting trees is just one way we can be sure we’re making a big, positive impact. As part of our commitment to promoting sustainable building practices and preserving mother nature, we plant TWO trees for every ONE tree utilized in the construction of each custom home.
According to a study by “8 Billion Trees”, a non-profit organization, a typical tree about 20” wide and 42 feet long can yield approximately 260 board feet of usable material. The average 2,000 square foot house uses about 26,700 board feet of lumber. It takes approximately 103 trees to build a typical house, according to the Idaho Forest Products Commission, https://www.idahoforests.org/forest-information/.
That’s why with each house we build for a customer, we plant 200 trees where they’re needed most with the help of charities including One Tree Planted, Arbor Day, and Plant-A-Tree via the USDA.
We’ll also match our customers’ personal donations towards tree planting and reforestation of up to 100 trees during construction. That means if you agree to plant 100 trees through charity, or by hand, we’ll also plant ANOTHER 100 trees as well for a total of 400 trees planted in honor of your project.
We get great satisfaction from knowing we’re able to give back more than we use as we believe this positively offsets our overall environmental impact as a home builder. This is one way we can be sure that what we’re doing today will contribute to a better tomorrow.
As an eco-conscious home builder, we plant more trees than we use with every custom home.
